Pappy's homestead is looking at 6-15" of snow over the weekend ... below freezing daytime temps until next month ... and the possibility of sleet/ice along with the snow.

And I'ma tell ya'll what ... that dang rodent sees his shadow next month, I'll personally bust a cap in ALL his KY cousins that I can find.

Minus 26 below this morning, wind chill of -48 last night. Planning a fishing outing on Wednesday with a few guys, mostly fishing outside doing some hole hopping. Hopefully it warms up by then.

Morning everyone...currently 6* with a wind chill of -9* Light dry snow with approx. 1 inch on the ground, and 7" to 13" over the week-end. Supposed to stay around for several days. Just hope this trailer park does something with the streets like last year. Been here almost 8 years now and last year was the first year they cleaned them. Living on this slight hill is not fun in the winter...fresh snow equals some traction, packed snow equals ICE and no traction...

So far so good here. But they are still forecasting two and three quarters of an inch ice today. Hope they miss that!

Every where I can access has ice. to thick to just fish, and to thin for me to venture out on...

The precipitation hasn’t started here and probably won’t for another couple of hours. We actually won’t be below freezing until tomorrow, and I’m expecting to have to drive my wife to work on icy roads the next two days. I’m expecting our two US vehicle assembly plants and our power train plant to be shut down 1-2 days, and schools will likely be closed for a couple of days.

We normally don’t have snow-covered roads like we had 5 years ago—we just go straight to ice. From the times that I’d travel up north for training or test vehicle reviews, I learned that the municipalities up north get more snow that is drivable and have the resources to prep the roads to keep them more drivable—snow tires also help. Down here, a set of snow tires for my truck would nearly dry rot in my garage before I’d get a chance to use them a second time.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

We get some amount of snow/ ice every year. I grew up out west in the desert. Learned to try and guide a big heavy truck in winter in Southern Germany, only a couple hours from the Swiss Alps. It's not my ability that scares me,, it's the lack of others who drive in this stuff like it's a summers day that scares the be-geezers out of me...Stay warm, stay safe ya-all!!!
