Default fishing line: who what where why?

Was having a debate with a buddy about fishing line. he prefers braid to fluorocarbon leader. I use just good old monofilament.
he tries to get me to use braid with crappie but i think the fall rate for the light tackle might possibly be too fast for how I like to fish?

but question is.. what brand weight and line makeup do YOU prefer and WHY.

I'm a fan of viscous 4lb test hi vis seems to have little to no memory.

just a little tackle talk this fine Sunday morning.

10lb power pro and sometimes tie straight tot he jig especially casting but dipping tie to 8lb Fluorocarbon and like it because it sinks and feel like it has better movement. Always a loop knot to the jig, like how it hangs vertically.

I think there are three different lines on my five casting rods, one mono and two braids. If I could only use one line, it would be braid.

Berkley fire line crystel 6lb, Both ice fishing and summer rods, most of the time tied directly to jigs or a plain snap using cranks….

How do you feel a bite spider rigging, aren't the rods in a rod holder?

I use 6 lb mono when I plan to play with regular ole crappie.
I use 8 lb mono when there is a distinct possibility of big crappie in the mix .
I have braid rods and fluorocarbon rods and they rest in my rod storage in the garage almost always…..
Many times my combo of choice dictates what line works well on it
