Looks like you and the wife are enjoying life. Congrats. As far as Austin....when you loose all sense of buck fever then you need to just hang it up cause the fun's gone. I still get an elevated heartbeat before pulling the trigger but all them shakes have long left me and I wished they hadnt.

It was my wish to take my first deer with a 44 pistol. Long story short, 3 deer at 50 yds, maybe less, and I emptied the gun. They looked at me and walked off. Hurt my feelings. Never even got close, long guns ever since. His day will come as mine did and I hope youre part of it all. I’m still looking for Mr Big…….

Austin had killed several does however it was always with his Granny or myself in the stand with him. He completed the hunter education course and now can sit by himself in a stand. We don’t have many deer on our property and seeing an 8 point stud is usually only on cameras at night.
My heart still pumps faster when anything steps out. That’s why I still do it.
Now when my electronics revels a school of slabs within pitching distance my heart skips a beat and that THUMP IS WHAT KEEPS ME GOING BACK FOR MORE!!
