I caught a few slabs on Da Bayou on Thursday. I had a tough choice to make on Friday. Clean fish or go fishing. My bride suggested she go fishing with me so it was an easy decision. A fishing we must go.
we waited till noon when the sun was high and the temps were in the 70’s and put it in the water. Less than 2 hours later we were putting it back on the trailer with 9 nice thick blacks on ice. She caught 5 of the 9 and the biggest one as well.
My bride said we had to go take Austin the woods on Sunday to try and get a deer so here we sit in one of our box stands. Life is good. Oh she is a better shot than I am.
BON TEMPS!!

Yep
I have been blessed. Together 50 plus years and she has been by my side on every crazy endeavor. There have been many!!
Well Austin was sitting in a stand by himself and an 8 point stepped out at 180 yards and he got BUCK FEVER!!
Been there done that. He shot and missed clean but I gave him the moto I’ve lived by to read and hopefully it will help.
read the photo to understand better. He was in the arena tonight and although he was not victorious he was not amoung the timid souls who will never know victory or defeat.
Teddy said it best!!
Bon Temps!!
Great Job, and yes, Happy wife, Happy Life...Congrats...
As for Austin, I have been in those shoes...in a tree stand, and ole big boy tried to sneak behind me. I managed to stand, level my 12 gauge, (on military bases must use a slug), shot, clean miss at 15 yds...shaking so bad from buck fever, couldn't even get a swallow of coffee for 30 minutes...buck jumped straight up, and when he came down, He left a dust trail...no blood, no hair, no deer. All one can do is smile, and do better next time...And remember, deep breaths

How exciting. Austin will get his deer one day.
Outstanding
Speaking of buck fever. I still get shakes, especially on the first shot each season. Everyone tells me that I don’t want to ever lose that.
What’s funny to me is that when a nice buck steps out, I kind of go on autopilot. Tell myself deliver the shot tucked tight behind that front shoulder then we’ll have a come apart later. It’s the wise old doe that comes out at distance, stares right at me and foot stomps. Tries to fake me out, get a bite then snap eyes right to me to try and catch movement. That’s the one that really gives me the shakes and ragged breathing!
