Default Minn Kota controls on the fritz.

while I was fishing yesterday, my I pilot Terrova started with a mind of it’s own. It wont respond to up/down in speed on the remote but it will adjust speed on the foot pedal. Auto pilot still works while spot lock will not. It stays on full time with the speed on the foot pedal and the only way to turn it off is to cut the power either at the motor or at the fuse/disconnect. Remote works the turning but not the speed or on and off. Did I los the circuit board? I’m waving the white flag again, HELP!!! But mostly, thanks in advance.

To verify you could download the phone app and see if it controls the speed. Phone app is slow and does not function as well as the remote. But it would verify the speed control board is functional with a wireless signal

Thanks Jack. I’ll look into that in a while. My thought is that it’s in the head because of the lack of response from either the pedal and remote, even with the remote turned off. I turned off main power and no change when fired back up after coming home, off for about an hour .

Might try replacing the battery in the remote, and then pairing/synching the remote and IP head back up together. Mine did something similar early this year or late last year, and this cured my issues of the IP not doing as it's told.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I miss understood. I thought I read that it would work with the peddle and not fully functional with the remote

Not the case Jack. Too cold and windy for me to get out there today but I’m going to bring the pedal inside and look for stuck switches. The board isn’t hard to get to but it’ll take a minute.

From now on power to the tm breaker and tm power off. Power up, and I think it beeps to recognize the power. Left and right work ok. Auto pilot feature turns on and follow a heading. Ipilot ( spot lock) wont engage, get 5 quick beeps. All these commands are done on the pedal with the remote turned off. If I hit the constant switch, the power comes on but wont turn off any other way than to cut the power to it. The speed control on the pedal responds also. Remote turned on, it wont respond to speed, spot lock or middle button to turn it off and on.I think that covers it.

Something critical with today's Digital TM's is to cut the power to the TM before plugging in the Charger. Charger voltages can climb significantly doing damage to the electronic circuits over time.

Also one of my habits, turning it off at the breaker I mean. Rarely it has been charged when still turned on. I have charged it a very few times when I didn’t trip the disconnect but it has happened. Doesn’t pay to get in a hurry during the pre launch routine or after loading when you’re done. I call it my walk around. Did the same walk around twice a day when I drove the road. Found some odd things out of place. Good info Rojo, thanks.

What batteries are you using? If still using lead acid or AGM, maybe a cell is going bad and is causing an undervolt condition after you run for a while?
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.
