Default I guess I’m gonna have to quit hating on those catfish so bad

My son and his gf’s birthday was yesterday. Both same day, same year. He’s about four hours older than her, imagine that. Anyway, they asked me for fish dinner. They like the catfish. The nine blues we caught last trip trolling cranks, I trimmed them up heavily, discarded all the belly and red stuff -
Fed mother in law, her guy, the inlaws, and the birthday kids, my wife and I, and they fixed bags to carry home. And fried bell peppers, thanks again Rojo! Feels good when they want take home bags
I ate a ton of it while cooking. Not Crappie, but not bad straight out the grease

Having harvested hundreds of blue cats from clear constantly flowing river water here in SE Louisiana I can say there are catfish and then there are catfish. Here’s what I mean by that redundant statement. Pond or stagnant non flowing water cat fish typically have a muddy taste in my opinion. While flowing water streams house whiter, cleaner, tasting filets.
I typically brine my cat filets over nite which helps produce a very tasty fish fry.
Although after 40 plus years of filling ice chest with speckle trout and reds once I tasted my first Sacalait I was converted to a Slab Slayer. Thanks to some GREAT MENTORS like Rojo, Going Catching, Cajun Ray, and Jig Rig my family has had fresh slab filets all year long that I have been fortunate enough to have harvested.
    BON TEMPS!!

I'm more of a crappie person, although catfish prepped right is really tasty. My wife actually prefers the taste of the bigger catfish (2+lbs), and she says that my daughter's 8lb flathead was much better tasting than smaller catfish that I sometimes catch.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

I agree with slab but I do like a good blackened catfish even now and then.
