UL rod repair?

Anybody out there have any tips for repairing a UL rod, or any recommendations for good rod repair kits?

I snapped the tip off of my TCB rod on a snag this morning. All I was doing was bouncing the rod with moderate effort to try to pop lure (1/32 oz beetle spin) off the rock. Line was 8lb. Daiwa Xbraid main to a 4lb. SOS leader.

Break occurred immediately above the second guide. I still have the tip guide, too. Hoping this one is salvageable because it's my go-to rod for many situations.

I broke one setting the hook on a bream . They replaced mine .

Did you check the BnM website? They may have a top section.

Good call...didn't realize they sold standalone top sections.

I just checked their website and they have a ton of replacement tops sections at reasonable prices. Everything except for the TCB, unfortunately.

I think I'll try a rod repair kit off Amazon and give it a go. If nothing else, it'll work as a loaner rod or one for the kids (who tend to be rough on equipment anyways). I also had a Bass Pro Shops reward card laying around, so cashed that in and bought a brand new one, as well.

Should you not want to buy stuff you wont use you can contact Mudhole.com and order exactly what you need and any other supplies you might think of. I’ve built a few rods and they’re a top notch bunch to deal with.

losing the tip on a rod and trying to make it work by adding a rod tip eyelet to it where it broke off , typically makes it not near as good as it was
If it were me , I would buy a new rod and be done with it , just saying

I agree with that in some cases but if the length of loss is limited to an inch or so it’s one thing but four inches is completely different. Always worth keeping a few tips around just in case. While I’m at it let me say not to use epoxy to hold em on. The hot glue stick lasts til you lose it and can be found at Wally or other places for a couple of bucks. Doesn’t take much more than that to get er done.
