Kayak Trip Report, Ditto Landing
I fished Ditto Landing this morning from 7:30AM till around 10:30AM. I kept 7 and returned 3 larger Crappie. Numerous short Crappie, Gills and Bass returned. The water in the back slough is down to only about three feet deep and it was 68 degrees when I started. I started with jig and bobber on stakebeds and isolated brush without any luck. With the water 68 degrees I remember that 70 degrees down to low 60's is a magic range where Crappie happily hit a small spinner so I switched over to a 1/32oz jig head with a tiny jig spinner and a 1"slider grub. I immediately started catching fish in the same areas that I'd worked the jig and bobber through.
Short trip, but a fun morning. I think this little slough has about played out until spring unless we get a big raise in river levels to bring some more fish in.
