I’ve fished there a couple of times and the current was almost too bad to fish both times.

I fished Flint River today putting in at Turkey Spring Landing and fish down to the Tennessee River and back. I kept 6 that were between 9 and 10 inches returning 10 larger Crappie and a couple dozen short fish. The last mile before the river was 68 degrees and warmed to 73 by later afternoon with visibility of a couple feet. The bulk of the baitfish schools are in this area, but also little stripe are everywhere. Upstream of that section the water was 64 degrees at daylight and had only warmed to 67 by the time I left around 5PM with visibility of about a foot. The last mile is affected by backflow off the Tennessee River, every time there's a release of water from Guntersville or they are generating power. Most of the Crappie were on laydowns and only about 4 to 5 feet deep regardless of water depth. Crappie are still few and far between, I made the trip primarily to check on new down trees and checking on some of my old favorites that might be gone or have shifted.

500 cfs is the max I try to fish the lower Flint and I prefer below 300 cfs. It's currently at 130 cfs per the USGS guage Flint River at Brownsboro, Al. - USGS Water Data for the Nation At 130 I can fish a 1/30oz jig head 10 foot deep without an issue.
