A bit more to add about vegetation and man made remedies.
Vegetation has been a part of fishing my entire life. I have personally seen most stuff man made to supposedly help nature generally causes more harm than good. That’s just my take.
I have found that the cover tends to produce more fish not less fish. Does it challenge us as anglers, sure. That’s why it’s called fishing not catching.
I grew up fishing creeks and still from time to time hit the local creeks in Alabama and Mississippi for a day of bass or trout fishing. The log jams can be some of the most productive places to catch fish. They can also be a pain to get by and if big enough I’m getting to the age, that’s as far as I can go on that particular creek.
Now if those log jams causes structural issues with local bridges they will sometimes come in and break them up. But for the most part they leave them alone. They let nature take its course through high water periods.
The state and local governments or officials don’t go in and pull all wood out of the creeks nor do they clean the trees away from the creek banks. Or for sure spray and kill or rot it away.
I suggest, before we cause additional issues with our fisheries we stop the spraying. Beside, I can’t imagine something that can kill a plant want cause a problem for me if it’s on or in the fish.
For sure not a tree hugger, but nature can take care of nature. Unless it’s life threatening to us,
We just need to let nature take its course for the most part.
