    Default Mister Twister Question

This weekend I tried some 1" Mister Twister tails for bluegill. They did well, but getting the tail to spin requires you to reel them in fairly fast. Out of the same bag, some really need some speed to get the tails rotating, some needed less speed. For a jig head, I used an I-Fish 1 gram jig head with a #12 hook. This ensured the hook came out of the body before the tail and did not interfere with the tail. I was happy, yet disappointed. I am trying to find a 1" curly tail grub that has a better tail. White was the hot color!

So I also tried the following and the tails are fantastic and rotate even at slow speeds.

    Southern Pro Triple Tip Grub

    Mr Crappie Crappie Cutter

    Southern Pro Hot Grub

The above three were great, but I want to get back down to that tiny 1" size. Any Suggestions?

Look at Eurotackle, the EPF Grub is the bees knees.

The mister twister have worked well for me along with the southern pro. The southern pro is my go to for trolling jigs. I’d like to try some that were a uniform thickness from the body to the end but haven’t found em yet.

mister twister 1 inch curly tails are not very good baits , as stated they require you to drag them terribly fast to get the tail going .....
most of the short plastic small curly tail stuff is like that , there are better choices for sunfish for sure .....and IF you find a soft enough curly tail to swim at low slow retrieval speeds, they tend to bite the tails off by the second or third cast, if not the first anyway

I had some in the past and need to look at them again. My biggest problem with them was inconsistent color. White is my best color. Trying to consistently get white ones made by Eurotackle is a crap shoot. I had gotten them from burnt white (tan), to translucent, to semi translucent, and occasionally some white ones. The only color Eurotackle can make without screwing up is black! I have also had chartreuse ones that weren't even close. Looking at them, chartreuse would have been the last color I would have guessed. I have had purple ones that were brown....

Might have to swallow my pride and try them again. Tough pill to swallow though, as I have thrown dozens of their miscolored crap in the garbage can. The only ones I kept were black ones.

I was at Bait Finesse Empire's site and it says the Eurotackle Micro Finesse EPF Grub 1.2" has been discontinued.

The Mister Twister work extremely well in the 2" and up size, just not the 1" size.

After a weekend of giving the Mister Twister 1 inchers an honest try, I agree with you 100%. My go to has been the Charlie Brewer 1" Slider Grub. Those get the tail bit off fairly often. I have found the tail biters are usually small fish. It was just disappointing because that 1" twister tail was the perfect size I was looking for.

Might have to try some 1.5" or 2" twister tails. I did order some of these to try: 1.5" Curl Tail Grub (2SG)

Let us know if they fit the bill. They all look good on paper but we know they aren’t all the same. I have a box of Charlie brewer 1” and I agree that the tails don’t last long but they’re the ticket for size and action. Like you, I’m always looking for something better.

It always seemed hit or miss with MT 1” curlytails according to color . Some colors work better at slower speeds than others .
Same with the regular size Charlie Brewer Sliders . Some them wouldn’t wiggle no matter how fast I cranked them . I started clipping a little V out of part that holds the tail on . Done the same with curly tails .
Makes it easier for tail nippers to bite the tail off , but at least I would get bit .

Most of the time now , I just fish my rabbit tail micro jigs . Caught about thirty on one yesterday before the wind helped me loose it in a tree .

Myself, I'm perfectly capable of losing my lures in trees without the wind's help. Natural talent.
