Default Cutting back on my fishing trips

I’ve started cutting back on my fishing trips as of last month .
I still hope to meet up with my fishing buddy once a week weather and Doctor schedules allowing .

But, I’m going to be busy trying to get this old man back into better shape by riding my bikes most everyday .
    I’m not a walker , it’s too boring to me .

The past couple of weeks during the on and off showers , I’ve been getting my bikes ready to ride . And getting in a few miles of riding when I could .
I finished up last month with a total of 119 miles .
I hope to better that this month .
Over the past five years I’ve lost around fifty pounds , mostly by riding my bikes and eating a little better . Six months ago I stopped riding totally because of knee issues .
I hope to have that issue figured out and I can continue riding daily and lose at least twenty pounds this summer.

I’ll be checking in and dropping by to post my weekly trips .
    I’m not going away .

That’s awesome and I congratulate you on the weight loss. It’s not easy to do. Sounds like you’re doing well and motivated to keep with it. Good job sir. I was just telling my wife last week I need to get back to watching what I eat and dieting. I’ve gotten slack and started letting things slide that I shouldn’t.

Exercise is important as we age and congrats on the weight loss. I started taking walks in 2018 to lose weight because I got tired of constant back pain. I lost 40 lbs the first two years and now that I reached my goal I walk enough to maintain my target weight. No more back pain. A lot of my fishing spots are walk ins and help maintain my weight. I have a smart watch that really helps with my days out. Last fishing trip to 3 spots covered over 10, 000 steps.

Congrats on getting down to your target weight Jim !
I was over 300 and didn’t realize I was THAT overweight until I started looking at myself in pictures.
I didn’t even weigh myself until I was probably down 20 or more and I was as just under 300 .
I went into the Covid period with obese and sitting around the house made it worse.
At 255 I feel a lot better and hope to get down under 200 and maybe I can get off a couple of meds .
Fishing was my motivation to get up and move the last few years . Now it’s time to get moving more .

Congrats on the weight loss! I too don’t walk enough and should do more but just don’t do it. When I was sick in ‘22 I lost 45 pounds in under two months. Once I was able to eat my stomach had shrunk and I wasn’t able to eat much, which was a blessing in disguise. It took over a year to put the weight back on and my job was active so it worked out. Stretching helps my back stay in place and overall leaves me feeling better. Don’t be gone too long,we look forward to your stories.

    Default Update !

Well it’s almost been a month.
This month, as of this morning , I’ve ridden 130 miles .
Last time I weighed I’d lost a few pounds too .
    Feeling better too .
I’ve got a meetup fishing trip planned for this Monday , which is supposed to be the coolest day this week . If you can call 92 cool . And finally light winds , when we need a breeze .

Last week , I told my fishing buddy I rather fish in the winter than the heat of summer.

Good job on the weight loss and getting your health in better shape! Everything is easier and more enjoyable, including fishing, when in good health and feeing good.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

This may be a little sacrilegious, but if you cut down on beer, wine, etc you will be amazed how much that helps your program along. Those sugars and calories added up to quite a bit. (And I got a thank you from my liver!) seriously, congrats on the weight loss.

Thanks for suggestion Bob , but since my cancer surgery ten years ago , I haven’t even had a beer .

    Update:
Next week is looking like to be a hot one except for the days with rain predicted.
Why is it , all winter and spring, the wind blew every time I went fishing . Now that’s it’s 95 with triple digit heat indexes , the wind barely shows up ! Haha

I Rode my bike 15 miles on my bike this morning. Pedaling at 12-15mph , I make my on wind .
I’ve lost about 8 pounds so far !
I’m up to 381 miles since I started the first week of May !
