Default Post spawn crappie from the bank question

I would like to target post spawn crappie from the bank and all the lakes I fish don't have any bridges and the only docks are right next to the boat ramp and very small. What things should I be targeting to fish from the bank or any ideas or suggestions how to be successful from the bank with no good deep structure within casting distance?

Maybe use a slip bobber set at different depths to see where they are hanging out? Sometime I just find them on drop offs after the spawn. Good Luck.

Yes, you should find contour maps of the lakes you want to fish so you know where the drop-offs are. Also some may show other bottom anomalies that can be fish attractors. Slip cork's will be one of your best delivery tickets. Crappie also like to chase a curly-tail uphill so long cast equipment to retrieve the curly-tail from well off the drop-off will help too.

I normally always use a slip bobber but I thought they would be around structure and deeper water do to water temperature. And if that's the case I won't be able to cast far enough even with added weight. Would they be on ledges with no structure?

Where I fished the last couple of times, I’m still catching crappie with eggs on various contours within casting distance from the bank as shallow as 6’ and as deep as 14’. As others mentioned, get a good contour map app to get an idea of where these drop-offs are and how to fish them on your lake or river, and it’ll be handy to scout out other places before you head there.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

On Ross Barnett they suspend on Ledges most of the summer. Of course adding structure is good but I see the spider rig guys just very slow fishing the channel ledges where there is no structure all the time.

To cast farther and go deeper two things: 1) use a slip bobber that has a weight on the bottom of it (Those bobbers have a ring of lead on the bottom of the weight held up by an O ring). 2) use a larger piece of split shot above your hook. That always works for me.

I just got in weighted slip corks for fishing Ross Barnett deep on the channel using big shiners. They really add to the cast distance.

What size of weighted bobber should I get for use with a 1/16 jig head. I have slip bobbers and plenty of split shots to add above the hook if that would give me the same results?
