    Default It’s not a crappie, but it’s a start.

Took my new B’n’M Sam Heaton with the Okuma Ceymar A combo out today and did some float and jig fishing. I didn’t have a lot of time and I was also there to test some new plastics a buddy of mine was molding for bass fishing, but I did spend a little time casting the new rig too. It ended up being the only rod I caught a fish on. Got a little bluegill and a dink bass. So, not a crappie, but it’s a start! For me it’s important that I actually had success using this float and jig rig. I had on a 1/32 ballhead jig with a 2” tube tied on underneath a tiny little foam trout float.

It’s just 7’0” long, but I did notice that with just a little 1/16oz Fin Spin I can still outcast my 6’6” baitcasters throwing a 3/8oz spinnerbait by at least 10 feet.

Good deal. Pup seems happy about it, sharing your thunder. I think most everyone likes their Sam Heatons.

Sounds like you made the good choice for you on the rod and always nice to catch something on your first trip with your new equipment...
