    **Update**

I returned the rod to Loomis and they replaced it no questions asked. My rod model had been discontinued years ago so it was replaced with a higher priced but lower technology rod, not sure how that's going to work out. I don't really have any complaints with the rod I broke, having fished with it for around 25 years it owed me nothing.

    Great customer service IMO.

Most rods break as a result of being hit, dropped, or sat on . Then when put under a load fail. I fish way more than the average guy and it happens occasionally not matter how careful you are. Even the most expensive rods can't take abuse or accidents.

Understood, after 25 or so years it'd had plenty of opportunities for something to happen. I'd caught two or three crappie before the drum that broke it. Honestly, I didn't expect them to replace it and wouldn't've been upset if they didn't. Again, great customer service IMHO.

I unpacked the new rod today, with the hang tag it weighed 0.15lb, or 2.4oz on my Rapala digital scales. I ordered a new Daiwa 2000 shallow spool reel yesterday, it's advertised at 6.2oz. At 8.6oz without line it should make a fun rig to fish with when spooled up with 4#.

Well My hookset on Speckled Trout whistles thru the air and rocks the boat. I've had Spinning Rods Explode in my hands at every spot a guide was tied on at one time. There's 40+ year old tools here but a fishing rod has to be tough to survive me.

Luckily, crappie and bluegills don’t have tough mouths.

My reel arrived today so I mounted it and spooled with 6# mono, it only holds 50-60 yards. This fall I'll spool with the 4# it's designed for. Not bad, 8.23oz ready to fish.

At lease one or two a year, between boat fishing(trolling at night funny things happen) and ice fishing 24”-36” rods are so easy to set down and get broken or disappear down the hole left unintended for just a second Fun fact a cell phone will bounce a extra time or two to make it to a open 10” hole in the ice to be free….
