And we are wrapping. I personally start with several wraps just around the tape on the starting end and wrap over them to ensure they stay put.
I must put in a warning here... When you are actually wrapping the thread and are between the tape at the ends, keep tension on the thread. If you allow slack in the thread, I promise you you will be unwinding the wrap back to the tape on the end and re-wrapping that round. Ask me how I know...
Anyway, back to this. In the third picture I'm showing how I keep track of how many threads I have on which axis. Each time I wind a thread down, I mark the axis. On the chevron pattern, I think it's the A and C axis, or as I stated before the North Down and the North Back.
I will note here also, I have the Chevron line down the shaft so my cross marks are in a straight line...Ok, now that I have the center guide thread placed, in this case a gold thread that will be an outline thread, I can start with the first color. I stopped to look at it good and had it wrong...start on the South side of A and return on the North side of C. I'm wanting the gold out line to be on top of the purple on both sides, with the Chevron pointing down the rod, toward the tip. Assuming the rod tip would be to my right...now, another note, as you wrap there will be small gaps in the thread where they are separated a bit. I have read, as well as been told in tutorial videos, not to worry about them till you have about five threads side by side. At that point pack the threads tighter. If you try to do each thread it will take much longer to get five threads side by side...once I pack them, I lay down another single strand of the purple, then another gold, and move to the second color...
Not sure what I did with the pictures here. Set the phone down to fix dinner for Miss Joyce and I. After dinner they were all gone, hhmmm. Donno...
More to come...
