    Default A crappie couple hours

We had a front come through last night with rain , wind , and thunderstorms that knocked our power off for a few hours .
Cooler temps today , mid sixties , with winds 13-22mph . About normal lately .
The water level was up at the local water reservoir, full pool .
I anticipated fishing from the dock , which has rails and I would need a rod and line with the capability to lift fish over the rail .
One of my combos was my 5’8’ Palms Pinwheel Ajing paired with a Carbon X 1000s reel , with Daiwa J braid . Yes , braid . Even with all of its issues , there are times when braid is the right line to use .
The other combo was a 5’2” SeaSir Stream rod with a Soare bb500spg and braid .
I caught several crappies that had their tuxedos on today , so of course I used a little black dress , I mean jig , to entice them into biting .
Ended up catching seven medium sized crappies, a green sunfish , and a small gill .
Using a size 14 streamer jig , I lost 5-6 crappies because the hook was small .
I like using tiny hooks , but I think they do cost me fish like crappies . They just pull loose.
Fun trip even with the wind .

Gillchaser what's your thoughts at to the quality of those Seasir rods? I know you have likely handled more UL rods on this forum than anyone else. Your overall thoughts as well as compared to others you have. They keep showing up on my amazon suggestions. I was thinking a 6', but then read your comments about how the 5'2" seems to cast further than the 5'6". I will be using a Zephr500 or a Vanford 1000 on it. Mostly casting 1/32oz heads with small plastics.
    Thanks
