This is the Forecast power wrapper. Forecast is produced by Baston, who also makes the Alps power wrapper. Now, it not only turns the rod blanks for wrapping, but can be used as a mini lathe for turning cork grips, as well as (may take a little figuring out on how-to) turning my own cork and wooden floats. Will have to work on the last bit...won't be long now, I hope. Gonna use the hand wrapper with the class in May....Attachment 502084
Sweet Turner, I have the same one. I have built rods for 40 years like the Tamales I only do it every so often. Now I sit with 1/2 a container of rods, they are coming out of my ears. One of my Bud's passed and gave me all of his stuff before checking out. I will see what I can send you. I need to check out what I have that Canebreaker can use too. The Mud Hole is the only place I buy the retail supplies and they are the best to me.

Yes sir, they are pretty good. I'll most likely be getting what I need there myself.

As I delve into the hobby of Rod Building, I want to add a personal touch as well. Back when I wade the hand wrapper from white pine, I played a bit with it. Using sewing thread, did a couple spiral wraps just ahead of the grip, before the first eyelet. Wasen't nothing fancy, but it got some hooks in me. I wish I'd gotten some pic's of it. Never did put any epoxy on it, and it ruined when some liquid spilled on it...lesson learned. Just a couple spiral wrap designs.

To further my education on the subject, I turned to Thrift books on line. They sell mostly used books and shi em to you, only don't be in a hurry to get it. It comes by a thid party vender, then handed to the even slower, USPS for delivery.Any way to shorten this story, I received this Dale P. Clemons book today. It's Custom Rod Thread Art. I'm hoping to pick--up some great info. Thank you for reading this far...Will post more in a bit.
