I went checking out some areas today while testing some line and caught four small ones to keep the skunk away .

Spent about forty five minutes fighting the wind today (16-29mph) but managed to catch a couple little ones on one of my micro jigs .
So I thought I’d just post them here .
Water on the main lake was white capping .

    Default Micro Rock Fishing

I’m naming the type of fishing my buddy and I sometimes do “ Micro Rock Fishing “
Lures used are usually micros as are the fish caught , although some will surprise you .
I use an Ajing style rod with 2# line (P-Line Floroclear my line of choice) and tiny Micro jigs .
Jigs are approximately .5g or smaller , usually around 3/4-1” long .
Fishing is mostly done , dropping the jigs into holes between rocks that make up riprap , beside boat ramps or in area that rip rap to protect shores that could erode easily .
. I imagine it would work around wood structures such as dock posts . Or trees or structure.
Sometimes I’ll swim the jig up to the hole and let it fall into the dark spot .
You have to be quick or the fish will wedge themselves under the rocks . .

Today I did some Micro Rock Fishing around riprap near a few boat ramps .
I caught fifteen green sunfish , most of them micros .

I fished the docks at the local reservoir.
I went at noon , weather had warmed after a cold night , hoping the water had warmed enough to bring in gills but I was too early .
Caught these two little LM’s in the hour I was there .
Going to try to go back late this evening.
Used my 5’ Major Craft Aji Do G1 with 2# Floroclear on a Soare XR 500sspg .
    Nice little micro rods .

Started out throwing a black Mini Trout Magnet on a Tungsten beaded size 12 streamer hook .
Took several casts before I caught a tiny gill . Less than 3” .
Fishing was slow . The water was down about a foot from evaporation, I believe , with all this heat , and no rain lately . And there was a film around the shoreline .
Temps this morning at 10:00 were already in the low eighties. But there was an occasional breeze that helped .
The other bait I fished was a black chenille hand tied jig on a streamer hook , with a tungsten bead and black rabbit fur tail . A simple jig that mimics a leach or possibly a small minnow.
I think I caught the majority on the hand tie , but it was fairly close between the two .
I only caught nine and all but one were what I call micros .
I enjoyed the rod combo a lot . A very lightweight fun combo to spend a couple hours chasing little gills .
You have your ultra light angling figured out well and not just in equipment, some very nice photos in your posts, thank you for sharing and making us feel like we were there.
