    Default Just received the 1000 size Daiwa Legalis from Digitaka


    I'm pretty darn impressed with this reel. I haven't put it on a rod just yet but in my hand, this thing is butter. For the money paid, it's hard to fathom a better reel under $100! It's pretty light at 175g, too.

    The one knock I have would be the skinny bail. I guess they did that for weight purposes but I would prefer a bit more robust bail. I've got two Luvias spinning reels among other expensive JDM reels, and I've got to say I'm not sure it's worth spending an extra $200-$300 on these upper shelf reels??? Maybe I'll feel different after getting it in the wild.

    I agree the 2023 Legalis is a very nice reel for the money. I've picked a couple up on amazon in the 2000 size. right now the 2000 is $64 while the 1000 is $83.

    I’m paying attention to you guys. I almost bought one about a half an hour ago but bought a scope for the AR instead. Maybe next week. They look good to me and have a great following. My Soare BB is real nice but I want to try a legalis to compare.

    I received an email from Amazon and they had them with the shallow spool for $63. I got two. That should put all y rods in play with good reels connected. I’ll talk about them after they’re in use.
