    Default Fished New Year's Day

I waited until it warmed up and didn't start fishing until afternoon. Temps were a balmy 39 with 15 mph winds but with really cold temps forecast it might be the last time for open water for awhile. I hit the local pond and got the skunk off for 2025. Most were small but did catch a mixed bag including a channel cat on New Years Day, a first for me. Thought I had a giant crappie for a minute, really disappointed when the bass came up instead.Name: IMG_5712.jpg

That was worth getting out. Nice mixed bag. I’m thinking of getting out tomorrow after church and chasing a few while fooling with my new electronics.

It was a good day catching five species of fish to start off 2025. We got some really bad weather coming through right now. Started with snow last night and it's sleeting right now. After snow finishes up tomorrow single digit temps all week. Going to take awhile before we get out of the freezer. Going to spend a lot of time at the vise.
