    Default Daiwa Presso air Telescopic?

    I found a deal on a Daiwa Presso Air Telescopic 66L .
    Specs

    Length: 6'6" | Power: Light | Action: Fast | Line Weight: 2-6lb. | Lure Weight: 1/32-1/4oz.

Can’t find a lot about this particular model , but it seems this is a fairly new Presso offering .
Most are around $199 . But I found the telescopic at 30% off .
And with a gift card and some bonus points , I got it down to $27.04
Fuji Aloconite guides , wood grip with a fancy reel tightening knob
Figured it would make a nice float rod and it’s is supposed to be super light . I’m sure I’ll try it out twitching first .
From the pics I’ve found, it’s a good looking rod .
If I don’t care for it when it gets here , I have thirty days to return it.
Happy New year to all .

The specs I posted are wrong, I copied them off a website that had them listed incorrectly.
The specs are Line weight 3-10 Lure weight 1/16-3/8 .
I sure with a proper drag setting , I’ll be able to cast a 1/32 jig using 2# line like I do with my St. Croix and Abu Garcia light action rods .

Thanks Randy ! But I’ve talked myself out of ordering it after finding the correct specs on it and was able to cancel it before it shipped.
I’m not sure I’d like the way the guides slip up and down the shaft and I’m sure would need alignment everytime I used it .
    I think I prefer a multi piece in a travel rod .
May look at the one piece offerings in the Daiwa 24 Presso Air rods .
The 6’ ULF looks pretty good .

Anybody who likes a telescopic rod , they were still 30% off by clicking the coupon this morning on Amazon . And they’re stateside .

Thanks, Gil! My 2 telescopic, a Nissin fabulous F and a Majorcraft native trout mobile , have been with me to as far as New Zealand...lol. Yes the sliding guides look tacky but they are made with strong plastic that can grip. Convenient they are but not very sensitive. @the price you got it could very well be unbeatable, even though you changed your mind.

Glad you chimed in . I thought you owned a couple telescopic rods and needed that extra push to convince me to give one a try after all.
Thought after I canceled that this would be a good rod to keep in my vehicle.
And I couldn’t think of anything else to spend my gift card balance on .
I went ahead and reordered one .

Nice! I know we both have a Palms Quatro multi-piece, now those were pretty well put together and I also bought a 4-piece Daiwa Iprimi when Amazon had it for under 100$, but that rod proved to be too noodle-y (if that's a word..lol) for pier fishing where most of my travel rods come into play. The high-end travel I have my sight set on is a Shimano xtune, but thats out of my range since I just spent my Christmas $$ on a Soare XR. Not bad for 188$ shipped! Happy New Year, Gil!

Thanks LV , and a happy New Year to you also.
I enjoy fishing with the Quattro .
I have the 5’6” xxul and bought the 4 piece 6’ XUL hoping it wouldn’t be as noodlely as the xxul but it too suffers from being too limp IMO .
I think both rods would be better if they were 6”-12” shorter . A 4’6” xxul and a 5’ XUL would be a more usable rod .
I actually thought about using the top three sections of the 6’ XUL and adding a grip and handle to the third section, probably removing the bottom guide . But haven’t had the nerve to do it yet.
I like multi piece rods .
Mine is due to be delivered this Saturday .just in time for an arctic cold front with highs in the low 30’s and teens at night.

I'm not one to admit I'm at fault sometimes, but clearly Gil, the picture below shows I've had my fair share of bad luck not once but twice...lol. The 2 Abu Mass Beat snapped at two very different locations and I savaged what I can and put it to good use. Contrary to what it may look like a longer ice rod (3'4" Or so) this Frankenstein of a contraption is actually a hoot to fish with for tiny baby carps on fly-texas-rig and bluegill. I even once posted a few post spawning baby striped bass pulled out of Colorado river near Arizona border...lol.Name: 20250101_164013.jpg
