    Default Why not ?

It’s just my wife and I today and I told her , instead of instead of watching tv , I’d rather head up to the pond for an hour or so . She said GO !
It was sunny and 53 when I left the house , but with an east wind , a little stronger than yesterday.
I took the same St Croix 6’6” Avid light , but swapped the reels for a KastKing Zephyr SFS 1000 , spooled with 2# Floroclear.
Even with the wind I was getting 10-15 feet farther than with the braid yesterday.
On my third cast , I felt a light thump on my 1g Tungsten bead jig and Mini Trout Magnet . I raised my rod and immediately had a couple of drag screaming bursts .
I was hoping nice shellcracker, but soon realized it was a green fish about two pounds . Biggest fish out of the two trips .
About an hour and a half later I’d caught three bass , a couple nice gills , and a shellcracker.
Bites were a little slower than yesterday but a nice way to spend a little time on Christmas Day .

Nice fish that made a good outing with some pretty good weather for y’all. Glad you had some time to get out. Merry Christmas, friend of mine.

Looks like you had a good Christmas at the lake. The bass sure are fun when they decide to play. Amazing that they will eat such tiny baits.
