Nothing wrong with keeping fish, sharing is a even bigger blessing. I like the ice water pic.

Big crappie , but boy howdy when I do .....
I plaster the internet with images of them .....
just saying ......
all kidding around aside , there was really large one the other day that went into my ice chest.
some folks wanted a few fish to eat and are not picky what kind or sizes involved .
So I did a quick pit stop for about 45 minutes and ketched a few for them.
The bite was not exactly stellar , but a few crappie and one young bass got a pass to move to another zip code.
most of the fish were hugging the bottom , a front passed thru and it rained pretty hard and the temps. fell drastically , I did not check the barometer , but I am rather sure it was high .
Bue bird days a day or so after said events tend to tighten up those crappie lips .
Let a few really small fish travel on and kept a few for them that wanted a few .
some fish were in around 7 to 8 foot of water and some were in 10 to 12 foot of water.
"When" you did get bit ( about a foot off the bottom), they were NOT fooling around ....
got my cheap old 6 lb. high viz Slime line broke off twice by large fish ....
will likely respool soon with clear Mr. crappie 6 lb test on that set up ....
Was tossing a bait I like that I think was my last one ....danget ....
white/pearl with some silver flakes and pepper in the body and a yellow tail ....
Some KABOOM beats no KABOOM by a country mile
p.s. a 10 inch fish looks so small beside a big crappie without a doubt, that part is a fact !

That bigun is a slab. Did you see what broke you off? Definitely time to change line, one break off is too many.

My goal each trip is just not coming home skunked. Any KABOOM is a good KABOOM. The more the merrier![]()
Slime line is not cheap. Like most brand name lines they have a line for different applications. I think I would fish with plastics that you don't like the way you can catchem. Good job on the wackin and stackin.
Now that my schedule allows me to fish more than just the crappie spawn in the spring, I also switched from trying to get a limit on a few trips to keep in the freezer to more of the mindset of not getting skunked on a trip and maybe enough for a fresh meal and not much more. I've also been trying to understand the pattern of fish for some areas over time, which is why I'm still pulling crankbaits to cover water to watch some of the structure as I pass by (easier to do when the kids watch the rods) while others are tight-lining and likely hopping from spot to spot.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.Ketchn LIKED above post

sorry my bad , it was given to me years ago , 4 of them 1/4 lb spools of 6 lb , it was meant for testing , the folks that make it gave one of my "pro" buds a case of it and he needed something I had at the time and insisted on me having some of it ....
he tossed them in my truck and I use them from time to time , when they were "new" it worked inconsistently for me , some days you would think it was braid , it wouldn't break off for any reason and then the next day it would snap repeatedly ....
I like mono that performs with consistency , if it breaks a certain way over and over and does not stray from a certain performance level, then I can adjust me and my drag to fit it ....just saying
