    Default Bigger fish!

Trolled crankbaits for the first time on Monday. Went again on Tuesday. Went again this morning and got this nice one. Nothing under 10” and most 12” or better. Caught about 20 in all so far this week and not getting tangled up near as much. Name: IMG_1749.jpg

Nice fish! I’ve never trolled with crank bait. How deep were you? How fast/slow were you trolling? I’m a newbie.

I’m new to it myself. First time doing this was Monday. Don’t have all of the fancy line counter reels and stuff but was using Arkie350 crankbaits at 1.5 mph. Cast them out and took off. 4 rods is all I can handle by myself with the setup I’m using. I’m guessing they are getting about 10’ deep.

So I run 1.6 mph most of the time trolling and use planer boards so I can target the fish where I find them on the Fishfinder. I troll about a half foot to a foot above the fish I find.

In my experience, it's tougher to catch shorts trolling cranks. Seems like the bigger ones come out to play on those baits. Not sayin' it can't be done!! Believe me....I'm good at catching shorts!! But trolling cranks is a good way to get decent size IMO. Nice job!
