Sounds like a great time!!
I've done the same thing (Blues & Channels) when Pushing jigs, Pushing cranks, & Livescope flippin jigs. They seem to always be in or around the same stuff as the Crappie I'm after, and they're just as likely to hit a bait that resembles a minnow or Shad as a Crappie will ... so, I'm often puzzled that it doesn't happen more often.![]()
Nice video .... thanks for posting !!

a small blue that size, out of the right waters, will rival a crappie in the eats dept. all day long .
and as stated ,they will run in areas sometimes with crappie as well .
one blue my bud took home in the low 20 lb. range had NINE crappie in it's belly !
they are apex predators for sure and typically run above the crappie right below the striped ones out in open water .
nice ketch bro![]()

I have caught Blues and Channels as well pulling cranks. It’s been my experience that they will hammer pink lures in these parts. Thanks for posting your video.

I've noticed that catfish like to hang out in the same areas that I fish for crappie (jigs or crankbaits), although I normally get smallers one that max out around 2 lbs. However, I wasn't expecting to see an 8 lb flathead that my daughter caught pulling crankbaits on 10 lb mono a few weeks ago, and I was glad that was on a real trolling rod (not a B&M Pro-Staff or Southern Crappie 14' trolling jig pole). This one was on a white Bandit 300.
If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.funbun LIKED above post
Never caught a big blue while crappie fishing but I did stick a 12lb flat head once. He was fun on 6lb line.

Every winter when livescoping Crappie in creek off the Arkansas river we see schools of Blues . Just pitch a jig on them just like we do Crappie .
