    Default Smithville 9/14

Day started out cloudy, hazy, cool, and muggy. Water temp 73 and pretty clear. Later it became partly sunny.

Fished the Little Platte side where I had the majority of my catch. Mid lake was the best and not getting a bite anything north of Trimble. Fish liked that 10-12' depth, with jig 10' down. Saw Joe up north and he said he was having the same luck as me.

Tried going up the Camp Branch side. Fished the same depth and didn't get one bite even on brush piles.

Head back to main lake trees and caught the remainder of my fish there.

Ended up with 8 keeper sized black crappie and one white bass that made for a nice Sunday fish fry.

By the looks of the Bill's post, should have gone back out on Sunday, but stayed home.

Single rig 1/8oz chart head with black and chart skirted tube jig. Tried other colors but only got hits on Smithville's favorite color combo.

Yup...you were more persistent. I only picked up two 9 inchers and two decent (3-4#?) channel cats that I don't normally keep but decided to give it a whirl anyway. They fried up nice enough.

Never went below the W Bridge on the Little Platte arm. Had a lot of follows and a lot of short strikes and lost one nice one at the surface. Gonna have to give er another go this week before the rains come this weekend!
