Default What a difference a day makes

I took a buddy fishing yesterday hoping the catch would be far better than the day before solo with only 6 fish caught. We did very well with 63 fish and if he at 78 didn't tire by 2pm, we would have gotten over 80 fish. The heat and bright sun didn't help.

We fished the same flats that produced nothing the day before the difference being the major front starting to move in calling for rain 5 days straight. Fish turn on big time before that and we caught fish in certain locations and at certain depths (6-7'). No beating the bank fishing and the center of this oblong lake was hot with doubles caught (his and mine) as well as 4 fish in spots. Even decent size yellow perch and sunfish smacked our lures along with 9-11" crappie and 12" bass.

Once an area stopped producing, I relocated the boat 20' and we started casting until fish bit - usually from one direction. Once a fish was caught, we both cast toward that spot and caught multiple fish. NOW THAT'S THE WAY TO FIND AND CATCH FISH!!!!

Tackle include jigs from 1/24 oz to 1/16 oz - soft plastics of various shapes and actions. Even a feather jig sent to me by a c.com member caught a few along with other lures he sent that did well yesterday. My hand pours as expected did well on the slowest retrieve with pauses - always at mid depth.

Hopefully my buddy will switch to braid considering the time wasted unfouling his mono at the rod tip and off the reel spool. The boat leak didn't make things comfortable for sandals and I've ordered a bottom sealer that will hopefully work on aluminum hulls. The foot control that I added to the 36# tm made fishing a lot easier especially when the wind came up and the boat wasn't anchored. Boat position on a lake is everything!

I was going to go out today before rain starts at 2 pm, but hey, a got a mess to sort out starting with fixing the control inside the tm. Plus, I gotta a lot of grass to cut if it dries out before the pm rain.

Good stuff! Fronts seem to really make a difference pursuing fish and game.

I used JB Weld to repair a boat leak in my old Alumacraft. It was still holding when I gave the boat to a friend several years after I repaired it .

Forgot about JB Weld - been around a long time. If the sealer I got delivered today doesn't work, JB Weld for sure!

3M 5200 will patch a hole and you can't pull it off without pliers once it cures! Hard stuff to work with but lasts forever.
