Default Caught a Few Good Ones Today

I don't remember a summer when the Crappie switched so hard from jigs to live shiners. Same thing I experienced last trip to Ross Barnett. I could not get a bite on a jig today. I threw underspins till I got tired too for not one bite.

But put a live shiner on 5ft under a cork and it was on! Now I will fish with shiners but my rub is the little fish you end up killing. Too small for anything but they will swallow the hook worst than any other fish it seems. You see your cork bouncing around, the shiner is nervous, anytime now you expect to see your cork go down but it really doesn't. You set the hook and know by the lack of resistance it's a Short. Today 2 completely swallowed the hook before giving any real indication of a bite. The fish in the cooler here, every one was hooked in the roof of the mouth and you knew you had a bite because the cork just slowly went down.

Hooked my PB Black Bass today too, on a shiner. I got a real good look at it as my line broke at the hook knot. I tie a knot easy to break with shiners so when snagged I don't loose everything but it bit me in the backside today as my Bass swam off.

Caught Crappie, Gills, Catfish, Gar, & Bass on the shiners. Sure was a busier day after putting the jig pole down. I ended up keeping 8 real good fish, Potato Chip Crust sized fish or 14 inch Poor-Boy sized fish.

Your Poor-Boy is waiting for you in the Cooking Crappie section Bud. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Congrats on a good outing. You got to feel the thump, or float going down, got some vittles in the cool box, and some of Mother Natures Beauty. That to me is a great day. Congrats my friend.
