    Default Yet another 5’6”

I have two ul rods with Presso reels that are 6’. Like em both but way different personalities. The trout x I got just a little while back was a lesson in what a better rod feels like. The Lunakia was right on its heels time wise and it’s a better feeling rod than the other two, lighter too. The trout x casts better than most of my ul rods which I attribute to the larger guides. I use my 5’6” builds a lot with the tiny jigs and it does very nice, but the JDM rods are real nice in the hand. I had gotten a little bonus at work and tied a bunch of jigs for a friend, keep in mind I’m weak. I’d been looking at the shorter trout x and just got weaker yet and ordered the rod. Then I had to have a reel for it so I looked for another Presso. Found one listed on Amazon Japan for $225 and pushed the button. I’ve already told in other posts my patience is bad. Then the reel still hadn’t shipped over two weeks later and I just cancelled the order. Asked another friend to keep an eye out for me and a week later I had it in hand for less than the one I cancelled. Got home from dinner a few minutes ago and there was a long skinny box on the porch, the timing couldn’t have been better. My boss has shown mercy on me and I’m not working tomorrow so I get to give it a spin. Wish me luck, it feels great. Soon……Skeet

That’s the one I’m missing in my Trout X collection.
I have 5’6” UL , but not the XUL .
I wish my five foot XUL was a split grip . Or the handle was a little shorter .
    I don’t know why the 4’6” and 5’ are full grip and red/black .
Looking forward to pics of the sliming .

So, I'll confess to being tired, and it has been a long but, are you saying that you don't like the Trout 5'6" XUL? I am confused by the phrase " lesson in what a better rod feels like". I just received two of the 5'6" XUL and have not had the chance to fish them yet as we had to go out of town for week. I know they are far more limber than what I am used to.

I know about being tired this week myself. When you posted last night I had already been asleep in my chair for two hours. You don’t have to explain about being sluggish. My statement about the rods meant just the opposite of the way you took it. The trout x 6’ was really my first JDM high carbon rod and I couldn’t be happier. Light and sensitive and good looking too. The Lunakia came in after a trip or two with the trout x. It’s a light action and most of its action in the tip 18”. These rods feel everything that the lure encounters. The 5’6” that I used today is just a fun rod with all good attributes. Took me a while to quit putting it in the woods cuz it outcasts a lot of my other rods. The action is spread out through the rod on these, unlike a true fast action. It’s not parabolic. A twenty inch catfish had it looking like a horseshoe but not parabolic by any means.,

Oh man I’m so happy to see Skeet all the way submersed in the JDM rabbit hole. I hope you catch tons of fish on it and continue to add to your arsenal. I’ve been quite a few times lately and have some pics to share. Hopefully a few posts coming up.
