    Default 6-03-24 weekly meetup

Major Craft Finesse gill chasing .

I had a feeling I was in for a day of dink catching, so I took the equipment I thought would be the most fun . My Major Craft Finesse rods .

I took both of my 4’10” MCF UL Glass rods , one paired with a Shimano Soare XR500spg , the other wore a Shimano Soare bb500spg .
I also took my 5’4” MCF Mountain Stream UL rod , paired with a Shimano Symetre 500 .
All were spooled with 2# Floroclear.

I met up with my fishing buddy at McGee Bridge park.
I thought we might have a tough time with all of the empty worm cups left by the white bucket group over the weekend. And these were the ones that didn’t throw their trash in the provided trash cans . Messy people .
We only caught a few in the hour we tried , all small , and then we moved on to another park.
We both had better luck at the new location, but they were still little guys .
    I ended the afternoon with 36 , my bud , with 27 .
At least at some of these new areas we’re fishing have some shaded areas .
The short rods come in handy casting out from under the trees .
Love fishing with my Major Craft Finesse rods .
They added a little more fun catching the little guys .
    Still a successful outing .

    Gillchaser,
    You have some beautiful equipment.
Those fish have some awesome colors.

We are lucky guys to get out and have fun.

    Take care

    Thank you !

I’d like to find a rod similar to these shorter Major Craft rods , but in super ultralight or extra ultralight.
I own the 5’6” XXUL Iprimi , but with the action and power it has , I feel it would be more usable at 4’6” or 5’ .
A longer XXUL rod suffers in its casting ability.

Sounds like you planned accordingly. The right gear even the small ones are fun. Good job.
