Default Duck feather jigs & gills

I got out yesterday and got on the gills again. One rod only again and a small jar of Berkley power wiggler pieces and some duck feather jigs was all I needed on this trip. Fish seem fatter since the cicadas are out in force, actually threw some out in the lake and watched them get eaten. Some were gone before they even hit the water surface. Is this considered chumming? Maybe stick a hook in one next time out and see what happens. Name: IMG_5251.jpg

Nice bluegills. They've been killing the cicadas on my local lake also.

    Fine fish, and fine baits.

Another good trip Jim, and some very nice jigs too. Due to circumstances beyond my control I missed fishing last weekend so I have no yarns to spin. Looks like you found the good fish though. I love the way they turn sideways and refuse to come your way for a while. Keeps me coming back.

Had as much fun feeding them cicadas as I did catching them. Fish seem closer to the surface now even with murky water from recent storms.

Haven't chummed in awhile. As a young teen used to ride my bike to the park armed with a can of corn which I threw some out in areas and bait with a single kernel on a #6 aberdeen with a split shot and caught a lot of carp on 4# line, biggest was 27.5 lbs. I used to keep records of how many and weights back then. That's how I learned how to fight big fish with light line.
