Jack, I am fascinated with the streamer flies. Streamers cut through water and swim. Most flies don’t do this. Most jigs don’t do this. My jigs will and streamer design will get me there.

Looking at buying some feathers to get started. Wanting a nice saddle in Grizzly. Going to try to put sides on my jigs. I got tops, bottoms, and whirling dervishes, but I ain’t got sides. I like the look of that last jig, but know the final needs to be much nicer. There is an entire industry competing for my sale. Gonna buy something nice. I always try to go cheap and it always makes me waste my money, and buy twice.

I want a saddle with really long, slender, black/white barred feathers. The quality rating of saddles and capes is not about the quality. The rating system is based on quantity, as in how many flies can be tied from the material.

I plan to use peacock feathers, too.

Seen other feathers, too. I want my jig to have class. A jig made to troll. My best is yet to come.

What is your best dock shooting jig ?

Size, color, profile stuff. I might could do a design that skips well.

I mostly use Bobby Garland Baby Shad. Skipping is fairly important for getting back under a dock. Feathers and fur grab the water with no skip. I have tried a Hybrid plastic body with a feather tail. I believe Shipahoy calls the Jelly Jigs. No skip there either. In my experience the stinger body adds weight to the jig as well. That added weight certainly carries a jig deeper under a dock.

Very nice. I was thinking Barred Rock chicken feathers. Those are much nicer

have you tried using satin threads for the tail? soft action like marabou but long lasting. tail will hold up better for shooting as well.

Feeling rushed. She has us attending a play tonight. She says it is about Dracula and is black and white old fashion stuff. She is all dolled up in her black flowing gown. She looks like Dracula’s bride. I worked all day today and would like to stay home and relax, but this is what happens when you marry more than you deserve.

Jack, we drove to a vintage theatre that has been refurbished. Beautiful place.

Parking sucked as it was a download an app to pay lot. 20 minutes later we just walked away. Almost missed the film trying to get it to work. They took away pay meters and installed……well they installed a system that is useless. We are savvy and couldn’t get it, so what do old people do ?

Idiots !!!

Once inside there was a long line to get popcorn and beer. Together. Some wanted popcorn, some wanted beer, but they combined the lines into one really long line so folks could miss the start of the movie. Idiots !!! Of course once they had popcorn they needed everyone to stand up so they could squeeze into their seat. Two old women serving beer and popcorn and trying to make transactions. Idiots !!!

My wife had worn a long black flowing gown that appeared to be gothic in style. Other women wore capes and such. The theatre was almost packed, but the seats next to us were empty. There were a few other seats that were empty, too.

So we settled in to watch - Nosferatu.

A silent, German Expressionist film filmed in 1922.

It featured a vampire- Count Orlok- that roamed the countryside feasting on the bloode of his victims. Some he would kill and some he would just bite and suck on their necks. The film was a silent black and white movie and a man played the organ during the show. Which lasted about an hour. To follow along you had to read the signs that flashed on screen and take your clues from the rhythm of the organ. The film was both scary and funny and had been digitally enhanced. Some of the scenes were washed out and almost looked like negatives were used.

Obviously this was based on Dram Stoker’s Dracula, but they tried to get around copyright laws by changing the name of the vampire. It worked.

I suspect they are showing this film other places as well. I recommend seeing it. Decades from now you can tell your great great grandchildren that you used to go to the movie theatre before they had sounds and you had to make do with an organ grinding in the back ground. Make them think you are really old.



Today she wants to finish up decorating for her big Halloween party. Bones scattered about here and there. Witches and monsters and bats and ghosts and spiders. She strung webbing everywhere it seems. Red lights adorn the deck. She has eaten half of the candy in preparation. So again today, I must perform the husbandly type duties she is sure to be needing. Get on the ladder, get off the ladder type stuff.

Anyways, I might get some time to tie up a few more. Can’t wait to see what the grizzly hackle jigs will look like. Streamer Jigs…..who knew ?
