The short center bucktail, which is usually a different color depending on the dye, doesn't work well for the length of jigs I usually tie.

So this solution was tried, using the short hair for a center tail and putting longer pink bucktail over.

This seems to have worked out pretty well on this jig. The inner hairs are a bit thick, maybe, depending on intended use of the jig. For muddy water, thick may be better.

Let me know what you think. Changes criticisms, colors, whatever.Name: PXL_20220506_143158652.jpg

I would make the body a little longer and tie off at the head, not in the middle.

The real critics are the fish. Their perspective is certainly different than ours

Here's another version I tied before reading the comments.

The necks are longer due to having to tie the shorter hairs further back to get some length on these 8th ounce heads.

The front collar could be changed or eliminated in future ties.

Might just call'em long neck mudders and take them down to test depth!Name: PXL_20220506_160623548.jpg

Got off track a bit with this one but like the looks of the hair. Looks like pink tips on brown hair. It's just something unusual. Managed to cut this hair a little longer to fit the head better too.

Oh yeah, no front collar! CritiqueName: PXL_20220506_164157124.jpg

I tend to do a lot of grooming after and during my process of tying with bucktail,,,I try to use as much of the tails as possible, so cutting and combing is a must while using shorter and longer hairs….downside is you use a lot more tail…

In the water is the main thing for sure.

It seems the thicker hair clumps and forms a slim minnow body while the sparser hair tends to stay open more.

Here's another one on a similar theme along with the first one and water pictures of both:Name: PXL_20220506_172638213.jpg

Bucktail is my favorite material to use on my jigs because of the movement underwater. Tends to makes it more eradic in my opinion which tends to trigger better bites

I started liking it a lot more over the last year with practice. Then I found out the fish like it.....
