    Thanks

The recent club tournament winner had a request after he and his son’s 1st and 2nd place finishes. Wanted me to make him some of my special jigs. Well this morning I made him a dozen of each of my most special jigs.

12 each of 3 styles, all in 1/16th ounce, two jig head mold styles, EC #571 size #1 hook., neon pink paint- two swirls in just the pink.

Check out the swivels. The Screw Lock insert is masterful. Solves everything easily and everything happens in one’s first go of it. Fish must rip bait apart to render it anything short of ready to cast again. No fiddling that devil back up the shank, after it had already spun up the line. No glue, no delay, no auxiliary special items to have aboard. Just a simple to learn technique gets it done. Screw the bait on. Simple.

Now if you are a site lurker, and you follow my adventures, you will know to trust me when I say screw lock is the bomb. I figured I would be disappointed with it, as I contemplated the new mold purchase, and must say it is solid as imagined.

Anyways, in exchange for the kind things he has already done for me I wanted him to have my “special jigs” as requested.
Maybe they will bite this one……

If a person fishes plastics the screw lock is a real time saver.

Beautiful weather today although it got breezy towards the end of the morning.

Early this morning I was driving along during rush hour traffic and I get to looking up ahead and everyone is having to slow and get into the left lane of a four lane highway. I get up there and sure enough this bicyclist all decked out in his court jester outfit is riding in the middle of the right lane. Now there is a seven or eight foot shoulder custom made for bikes, but he wants the middle of the right lane. Like it was his agenda to see if someone was willing to run him over. When it was finally my turn to pass him I laid on the horn.

Well that should have been that but no he saw me pull off onto a side road, just ahead, and stop at the stop sign. That was when he came screaming up beside me. And I do mean screaming. He was cussing and waving his arms and being very aggressive with me. Then came the challenge, and with it, I was out of the truck and making good time striding towards him. You never saw a man’s eyes get that big. He took one look at little old me and that was when he decided that what I really needed was not a butt whooping, but rather a good stern talking to. Which he did while he peddled that bike as fast as he could in the other direction. Me giving chase and yelling -“ Come back I want my lesson.”

I suspect he was one of those pinko commies disguised as a tough guy. Would have been a shame had he slipped his chain just then.

Then I launched and tooled around the lake some and like I said it was a gorgeous day. The eagles and ospreys greeted me. I managed a couple of fish, not much. About mediums was all. I quit early because they just didn’t seem all that interested in my offerings. Saw several gar splashing about on the surface. The fish looked cold and tried to stay under during the fight.

Once ashore, I s aw that friend of mine and he had a live well full. He had taken his former employee fishing. They were keeping their fish, so I handed over my pair.

Gave the man his jigs that I made for him and we chatted a little and then we left.

There is a lesson for me in all of this. Of course there is.

It is that I need to go fishing with that man some more.

Nice livewell of fish. I wonder how much the ticket would be for a man towing his boat down the middle of the bike lane?

My brother and I were coming home from fishing and a dozen bicyclists going down our lane. He waited till it was safe to pass and gave a couple quick hits to the horn and then passed. As we got to the front bike he swerved out to us and gave the one finger solute. A little ways down the road my brother pulled over, parked and waited. When the cyclists came he stepped out grabbed the lead man and slammed him to the ground. Then ask him not to finger motorists while on a bicycle. The rest of them said nothing as they picked up there friend.

Yeah I don’t understand some of the bicyclist around here. It’s like they go out of their way to get on the busiest street the can at the busiest time for the day. Blows my mind. Like they’re trying to get hit. I could think of many back roads somewhere out of the way they’d be safer and not cause a crash.

Here in Iowa they have the same rights on the road as tax paying vehicles. So we just need to be watchful for them and cuss under or breath.

Oh the same here. I just don’t get why risk your life like that. People are idiots on the road, speed and on their phones paying no attention.
