I just purchased a KastKing Zephyr Spinning Reel – 5.6oz, Size 500 - $35 on Amazon, for crappie & bluegill.

My favorite up to now was a Shimano Symetre 500 .
Last week I got a Shimano Nasci 500 FC . This may become my favorite. I particularly like the slightly longer handle and the larger paddle .
I like a 500 reel on my shorter rods , those under 5’6” .

I just picked up a piscifun viper 1000. Seems decent for a cheaper reel

I have a couple of the Zephyr 500 reels . They are light and have performed well for me , so far .
They wind smooth , but do have a little play in the handle .
The KastKing Zephyr Finesse SFS 1000 is a nice reel too . Comes with a shallow spool , carbon drag and weighs 6.7 ounces .
I have these on 2 12ft, 2 10ft, 3 7ft, and 3 6ft crappie rods plus this spare one. For $20 it's the best bang for my buck. I have a Shakespeare President on another 7ft rod but it rarely gets used.
