Hard to take a bad day fishing, but you got to get out. Better luck next time!

Fished some long dead end canals around Lake Salvador yesterday afternoon. 52 air temp and about 53 water temp. Water was cleeeeeean but still with the brown color. Very little water movement if any.
Tried hitting the banks with corks then and pulling them back to about 10 feet off the banks. Most canals were about 3' at the banks and 8-10' in the middle. Threw different colors, corks at, different depths. Jigged on pilings, gas wells, what little deadfall we could find. Threw the roadrunner, and nothing.
Had 1 bite late in the day under a cork that I missed because I had too much slack in the line. It was near the only place we saw some bait - a school of shad meandered by the boat.
Started with about 7-10kt north wind and ended with 3kt or less. Beautiful day to run the boat.
Found a couple of deep holes on the way home that seemed to be holding a few fish, marked them on the finder but didn't try deep jigging them. Going try Thursday I think to see if a little warmer temp helps out!

Looks like a good bright blue sunshiny day. Fro the look of it a great day to be on the water. Figure those fish were somewhere in the shade. Days like that they can be found under the deep shadows of docks.

Still a beautiful day on the water. Better luck next time.

Great report la. Bad reports are needed too. I've heard about the fish kills in dat area after Ida. I hope to make a Des Allemds trip soon and find out if anything is biting.

thanks jig
If I’m able to go Thursday, I’m going to des Allemands. I’m local and just was hoping the kill wasn’t that bad since I never saw anything first hand. Just may have been wishful thinking. LDWF estimates inland fish kills following Hurricane Ida - Louisiana Sportsman
There’s tons of debris and marsh scattered around Salvador and cat. Could be tough for a while.
Yes it's the end of a big funnel coming from Barataria Bay up to Lafitte. The water depth is typically around 4-5 feet during the year, and the gage at the north end of the lake saw at least 11' during Ida before the gage broke. That would cover the entire marsh with about 3+ feet of water I'd think.
Folks have still been catching plenty of catfish in the area, but so far I've seen no positive reports of sacs.
