My Grandad taught me about that lure in the early 60's. At his local crappie lake that was the go to bait. They weren't cheap, even back then and the inventor only allowed one distributor per town. We always used them under a bobber and fished them faster than you would a jig. They came with a pre-tied leader and it was tied to the lure with a loop knot like Gene shows. A few years back I contacted Tara and bought a dozen out of nostalgia mostly. Still haven't used them but now that I get out alone more I plan to.
I got several "blanks" from a member (forget their name) and tied my own tail feathers on them, but for some reason I never got around to using them.
I think I might dig some of them out, remove the dressing I put on the tail hook and replace that with some of the Slabanator Scent Sticks as a trailer.
I used them as a kid, fishing with my Grandparents at a local lake, but mostly I remember catching Bluegill and White Bass with them. Can't really say I remember catching any Crappie on them, but hey .... that was 60 some years ago.
