Indeed it is, DSJ ... the main body is a hook with a J shaped lead body poured over it, and it wobbles like a spoon when retrieved. The tail hook is tied on to the main body hook & the wobble of the main body gives it very enticing action.Originally Posted by DockShootinJack
I used them when I was a kid, and remember catching Bluegill & White Bass while trolling them on my home lake. Can't say as I remember catching any Crappie on them, but then I don't remember using them when fishing for Crappie. But, I have little doubt they'd work for Crappie (as long as you could keep the gills, Bass, White Bass, and all the other minner/bug eating fish in your waters off of itand keep it out of the underwater woods).

we used them in the 60s for both crappie and bluegills. they were an awesome bait. i still keep a few in my bag but haven't used them in years. a word to the wise, the leader that came with them was two pound test so no need to try to bury the hook....lol

My Grandad taught me about that lure in the early 60's. At his local crappie lake that was the go to bait. They weren't cheap, even back then and the inventor only allowed one distributor per town. We always used them under a bobber and fished them faster than you would a jig. They came with a pre-tied leader and it was tied to the lure with a loop knot like Gene shows. A few years back I contacted Tara and bought a dozen out of nostalgia mostly. Still haven't used them but now that I get out alone more I plan to.
