That’s a good looking rig. I fish out of one of those myself and I sure do love my millennium seat.

A fishing buddy gave me the best advice on securing that seat after the last one broke loose and i almost ended up in the water. I got a heavy 2x12 to install Attwood 1002 Lock'N-Pin 3/4" Pin Seat Mount - Zinc Plated Steel, 2-3/4" Steel Pin with Spring, with a attwood SP-67749 Swivl-Eze Lock'N-Pin Aluminum. Best money spent.

The only way to get out of the boat unwarranted, is a back flip over the side lol

Ok, Some are asking for a pic of my favorite tube and jig set up.

Even though some lakes prefer a certain color (like the purple chartreuse combo) I keep a small group of other colors, when they simply ignore this color. Adding a white jig head on clear water has helped bail me out in late spring when the bugs are hatching. And gold and brown near creek edges have killed the crappie after a heavy rain.

But day in and day out, purple with chartreuse gets the biggest crappie.

Some ask if crappie nibbles make a difference. Well, I don't think it makes them bite because of smell. However, they will hold the jig in their mouth a second longer giving me a little more chance to set the hook.

This is very important when bobber fishing with a jig. If I have no scent they will spit the hook on a slack line. But with scent I can remove slack before setting the hook.

I have never tried slabsause, so I will have to give it a try to. I hear good things about it.

That is my favorite tube color for almost 20 years . Ever try insert jig heads ? I push mine inside and pop eye through before tying on the line. Tubes last much longer and no need for painted heads .

I used to Nimrod: But I like the extra space for pumping nibbles. The nibbles will stabilize the tube for at least 10 fish. Then it starts to slip all the time and I replace and re-inject.

I also have found the tube that is slightly loose will help me get off down limbs by sliding to the hooks edge and acting as a lever to free the jig.

It can be a pain to keep touching them up but putting a new one on takes less than 30 seconds with injection.

Nice colors we have here. Where do you fish?

All over west central Arkansas mostly . I have no trouble getting bites never use nibbles. What weight jig head you use ? I only use 2 that is 1/8 and 1/4 for bigger tubes . Most times heavier jigs easier to shake loose as long as you don't set it in the wood when hung . You livescoping , side/down imaging or still old school ? Strictly brush or open water too ? Would hate to guess how many thousands I catch most years . Beginning to see numbers of big fish fall in last couple years. Covid , Social Media and Livescope has increased fishing pressure 10 fold on some lakes here .

Surely all those advertisers didn't LIE to me????

Seriously though, thank you for this post. What a great reminder that you can catch them like crazy with minimal equipment. 5,000 crappie on 3 different colors of tube jigs blows my mind.
I been using 2 colors for years in Arkansas . Purple/Chartreuse 2'' Southern Pro Umbrella tubes with 1/8 oz head . The other is Southern Pro Little Hustler 2.5 '' tube on a 1/4 oz head . You don't need a ton of baits with right presentation . Still can catch lots old school on some lakes but these high pressured and bigger lakes side image , gps and livescope does improve catch rates if you know how to use them .
