Well i have eaten lots of fresh caught Walleyes.
And yes i do prefer them to Crappies.
And ive also had the cheek meat.
Very good, but not sure worth the trouble for what you get.
Id sooner another filet than those.
Ive also tried the much talked about fins.
Again, not worth the bother at least for me.

have heard/used many times. My most recent post(Fish & Chips) summed up the delicacy that many of us have enjoyed over the years = Crispy, fried "tails/fins"
Barbara responded that she LOVES 'em but Ralph throws 'em out after his artful filet skills. Ralph, within earshot of this jab responded "our preacher even eats the eyeballs from our saltwater fish we give 'em!!" He says they're the BEST part! I tried hard NOT to let the light-bulb turn on, I really did, but I still had some fresh, uncleaned "candidates" awaiting their turn. I figured, well, the Northerly, frigid boys have their walleyes("eyes"), maybe daily, Sunny Florida can have ours too!
the two "pop outs". We don't have any Mt. Everest's to climb here in Florida, but I'm always "In search of"(circa.- Leonard Nimoy). Keeping an open mind(creativity) will often yield the reward of a full livewell!
Centuries ago, tomatoes were considered toxic/poisonous, couldn't give away rock shrimp here in Florida, eating poisonous pufferfish(tried one lately?=my favorite), >$20 for Grouper cheeks(delicious), sea nettle(jellyfish) soup[haven't tried yet]- list goes on... For all of the unemployed comedians & pugilistic punsters out there, why not try a "thumbs-up" audition = I'll push the ball 1st- Eye, Eye Captain 2- Guess the eyes have it 3- I only have eyes for you(old folks should remember this song) 4- Eye can't imagine someone making a post like this!!
