    Default MDI TM transducer question

    I have a Helix 10 G2N.
If I use transducer XTM 9 MDI T on my TM, and hook it up to my Control head with Y cable 9 MDI SIDBY, will I be able to get Mega down from the TM by selecting the transducer from the sonar menu?
Will the Y cable throttle the Mega signal down to regular 2d ?
If so, how do I use the mega on the TM to get Mega Down?
    Thanks

The SIDB Y cable splits off the 2d signal to a separate 2d piezo ...

The DI will only come from the xducer that “Imaging” leg of the SIDB Y cable is connected to ...

Your G2N must be running the latest software to connect to the MDI in the Minn Kota because the newest software adds HW (2d) capability to the G2N ...

Why are you wanting to use a XTM 9 MDI T instead of using the MDI in the Minn Kota ...??

I don't have MDI built in to the TM. Sorry if I was fuzzy on that. I have a 1 year old 12 volt Terrova with the built in regular sonar and was wanting Mega down.
I had to mount the transducer behind the skeg to get a stable surface, but put it as far back as I could to give it clearance. Hope to not get turbulence from the skeg.
I will do the update today and hopefully test it out Wednesday if it will stop raining.
    Thanks much for your help.

    Ok now I understand ...

You would not gain anything by using a Y cable to the US2 along with the XTM 9 MDI T ...

    Both have 200kHz/ 83kHz 2d ...

*With the Y cable - MEGA DI will come from the XTM 9 MDI T / 200kHz 83kHz 2d will come from the US2
*Without the Y cable - MEGA DI will come from the XTM 9 MDI T / 200kHz 83kHz 2d will come from the XTM 9 MDI T
    ——-

With the newest software (that adds HW 2d capability to the G2N) —- and with the https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.c...975.1596334343 = you could gain better HW low Q 2d CHIRP Sonar ( but the DI would still be the same MEGA DI [not MEGA+ DI] ) ...

(note: MEGA is gen2 imaging technology - MEGA+ is gen3 imaging technology) ...

Good to know. I am running the Y cable with the Mega SI transducer that came with the Helix on the transom and the XTM 9 MDI attached to the trolling motor. I have unplugged the us2 cable and coiled it up under the front deck. I am running this on a 16 ft stick steer, so Helix is mounted on front deck.
A lot of different parts with this. I reset to factory defaults on the Helix prior to the upgrade, so it will take me a little time to adjust settings again with the new software and transducer, too,
I had looked at that transducer previously, but HB said it would only work on 80 lb thrust motors and above, as it needed clearance between the skeg and prop that the 55 lbs didn't provide.
    Thanks again.
