Fishtrap Lake
Went to Fishtrap early this morning to a bank where I had found a bunch of bait Tuesday. The plan was to pull crankbaits and it worked pretty well.
Caught about 14 fish total but 8 were shorts. Of the other 6 there were 2 14" and 12.5.
They seemed to quit biting as the morning went by but caught the big ones early. Still picked up a few keepers up to about 1:30 when I headed home.
There was a lot of trash on the lake today and it made for difficult pulling but was able to get a few good'uns!
The water temp started at 58 early and got to 62 of afternoon in the middle of the lake. The upper areas above Grapevine were still cooler than the middle parts.
Was glad to get a few and will get back tomorrow bright and early. The last 3 trips using jigs were terrible and barely caught a few shorties.
The big fish today were stuffed with shad and the roe was still bright colored so hopefully I can pick up a few tomorrow. IF the weather stays decent maybe they will move up on the banks soon and the jig and float might get a workout.
I'm waiting on an order of Pico ints but they probable won't get here in time for Saturday's trip. Was using some cheap Chinese cranks today and trying to figure of the running depth thing. May try some deeper runners tomorrow.
Catch'em Up!
