Mine is usable with 2.33 software but nowhere near as clear as it used to be. The starburst effect and overall cluttered screen make it hard to track your bait.
I received an email from Garmin today, they know they still have issues with the 2.33 software but are working on a new update. No information yet on when it may be available.

How would you achieve this verification?Just MAKE SURE you're getting the latest version software when you do decide to get one.
The software version is not printed or labeled on the box.
Only way I know of is to power up the unit to read the installed software.
To me I would want one with the software version before the Perspective View update. But your right there is no way to know what software is on the unit or the black box until you hook it up.
Again my system is usable, some people are not having any issues with the new software but unfortunately some of us are.
The GLS10 can easily be programmed with any version. You just need to find the file you need over at bbc.com Garmin forum. I wrote a thread here on how to force load, and have extensively tested 2.20, 2.30, and 2.33, and am currently running 2.33. There is so much pollen in the water here, that I do get the rays and ghost tree if I crank the gain too high, but I can tweak a good enough picture to see fish on brush or under a dock, see my 1/32 oz jig at 30 feet, and am catching a lot of fish. I've never had a "dead zone" - this IMO is likely a hardware defect in the transducer piezo array, and not related to SW. If you work with Garmin they have a decent customer service, unlike a couple other brands I won't mention.
Edit: the version before perspective is 2.20

No problems with mine, I have a Garmin 106sv with Livescope. Couple days ago it had ready for a update on the screen and it only took a couple of minutes and still going strong.
And you can roll it back to earlier. Excellent version Sent from my SM-G965U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
