    Default Hill Fishing 3/20-3/21

Plenty of fish caught Friday and Saturday from the bridge at Long Cane Creek all the way up into SC Little River. Got a quick limit of good fish and then went riding. A lot of limits caught and a lot of guys just didn’t get a bunch of good bites.....seems like zoning in on the right colors were the difference along with picking up the pace while pulling. I was zapping ‘em pretty quick at 1.3 and I talked to guys not getting much action running .8-.9....this was just my experience, I’m sure you guys did well with your experience.

Me and satoma went to the hill Thursday and headed to long cane. We got there and got ready to fish and could not get remote for the ultera trolling motor to come on. I tried everything I could think of and it would not come on. We loaded up and went to McCormick and bought new battery and still would not work so we headed home. Of course I did not have foot pedal in boat as I have never had this problem. Got home and parked boat and took remote and played with it again and by pushing both direction switches and holding them for a few seconds it started working. Got no idea why that made it work but it is working again. Going back on first good day.

Good job on switching things up to get that bite you wanted. Just goes to show they don't always want that one certain jig and color always pulled the same way. Congrats.

That’s why I think Crappie fishing is so addictive. They make you work for ‘em. And when you finally figure something out...man, it’s rewarding.....good luck guys. Stay safe out there.

Boy, I am glad someone had some luck. I fished further down the lake and had very little luck. I fished a little Creek that is not one of the best spots on the lake, but my house is on that Creek and I don't have to burn gas. I usually still get a limit of close to it this time of year. I tried a lot of stuff and just could not get them to bite. Gave up and switched to Bass fishing and had much better luck.

Congrats on the Bass...just an FYI but I caught few fish, average size in 12-17 feet of water. The big hens were off the run in the flat usually 6-8 feet of water....threw back at lest 10-12 smalls less than 10” long....the fish are eating, just a matter of the right chemistry of location, speed, colors.

I have had to unhook everything and take the battery out of the remote. I finally figured out the remote battery was low. I replaced it and no more problems.

I took the battery out turned it upside down and even went to hardware store in McCormick and bought 2 new batteries and nothing worked. Old battery had 2.9 volts when tested at store. I just used the boat last week and it was okay. I will keep foot pedal in boat from now on.

Thanks. I tried about everything I could think of. Fast, slow, shallow, deep, different colors, different weights, road runners, you name it. The only ones I caught were in about 15 to 20 ft of water and about 10 ft deep. Just was not my time I guess but I had one of those trips over several days where it seemed to be just one disaster after another starting with when I slipped getting the boat off the trailer and fell in the water across the trailer and took a piece of hide off my leg in the process. Can't say I have ever done that. I wish it had stopped at that but it didn't. I sometimes tell my wife that if people stay on the couch, they don't get hurt. Should have followed my own advice. Oh well, give it another try in a few days and hope for better luck and that my little run of being a clutz is done.
