Not a tyer but questions
Last year I tried some hand tied jigs made with calf tail and bucktail hair. I usually use plastic but wanted to experiment. I ran into a problem with using Slab Sauce with my hair jigs. (NOTE: this is not a Slab Sauce bashing). The problem was that after applying it really matted down and was almost impossible to clean up the jig for the next trip. Should I treat this as normal for hair jigs or no?

I can’t answer for the Slab sauce, but I find on my kiptail it does the same thing with just the water. But when I start fishing again it goes right back to normal and will kind flow and undulate. I would think it will be ok. My rabbit does same thing.

I’ve had the same results using marabou. Unless you really really wash the sauce off the jig it dries to syrup consistency and messes up jig. I have started using nibbles for hand ties and sauce for everything else. In videos I’ve seen SK post he squirts it just on the chenille and might not have this issueAlso the mop tail jigs might not have this issue and probably hold the scent better. I’ve bought supplies for this but haven’t done it yet to test. Slab sauce and G sauce are great, wish they came in nibble form.

Well one thing I would make sure to do is have a separate box or storage for the ones you used with the sauce or any kind of additive like that. I don't think it will hurt them, but I would keep them separate if it was me.

I also use the chenille for liquid based products but nibbles most of the time.

If no problems using the sauce on just the chenille then maybe the dropper or precision applicator is what should be used on hand ties. I dip or spray and get it everywhere usually.

Your right...and after they have been back in the water for a few minutes they will come back to life...Just put some more attractant on them and go back to fishing. And for SuperDave a nibble type slab sauce was tried and tested....did not work as good.Originally Posted by DockShootinJack

Yeah I’ve talked couple times with Slab about them.
The jig I had I tried again and it never did come back. The feathers stayed stuck together and nasty. I cut everything off the hook and used for plastics.
