Thread: High Visibility Fluorocarbon Line

Got mine in a spooled up on a 2004H yeasterday as well. Haven't done anything with it yet, but think it will easily be visible on the water. I am hoping this works out like I want it to, Ive used other flurocarbon on these rigs recently and sensitivity is significantly better than mono, but not quite as nice as the Suffix Nanobraid or Varivas Ester.

Y’all are missing the point here on FC line. It’s not about the line being invisible to fish. Braid has a specific gravity of 1...it is neutral....it is the same with nylon monofilament. FC line has a specific gravity of 1.7...it sinks pretty fast. When you’re fishing a 1/32 ounce jig in 21 feet of water...trying to keep it on the bottom....a sinking line is worth its weight in gold. A year ago I took my son fishing with me to Nickajack to fish for KY bass holding on bottom at 21 feet. Our lure....jig head was same. The only difference he was fishing mono and I was fishing a polyester line....polyester line sinks also. He caught zip...nothing. I was catching almost every cast. We only fish cast and retrieve.....we weren’t vertical jigging. I felt bad for my son that day. But I couldn’t help him until we got back home. I gave him a spool of polyester line and next time we went fishing for the Spots he caught same as me. Using this line eliminates the need for a leader. When fishing polyester or braid I use an FC leader.....it is a shock leader. I’m not too concerned about fish seeing the line. When using true 2 and 3 pound test as the OP and myself do a leader knot is something extra to tie. I would have been using clear FC line but I cannot see it. I can tell you for a fact if one fishes micro jigs...using cast and retrieve method......in deep water....you’re going to catch more fish using a sinking line.

I use Suffix 2lb Nanobraid a lot now, but as he stated, it doesn’t sink, Ester mono will, but there are some downsides to ester that it isn’t always the correct option either. When I am using a drop shot with 1/8-1/4 oz weight vertically, braid is the best option, but when casting a light jighead trying to fish deeper water, fluoro is king, especially when there is any wind, the Nanobraid is exceptionally good at getting wind blown....

I got to fish a couple days in the last week or so with this Sunline multi color fluoro, and so far it’s the real deal, the colored section literally fluoresce bright orange and green with smoke black section in between, its super easy to see with ANY amount of sunlight. My only complaint is the 3lb I bought is a bit thicker than I prefer. Once digitaka has stock again of the 2 or 2.5 I’ll have some on order to try.

As to knots... the nano braid is so small (.001”) that my normal 2 turn surgeons knot won’t hold and a 3 turn or double uni or blood knot create a line profile too big for the micro guides on a couple of my rods, primarily the 6’3” lunakia.

Your line guilds has the same size hole diameter as a bobber stop bead ?

I’m sure he’ll answer but since I have several of the same rods he has.....yes the guides are that small. I thought 3mm were small....then I bought rods with guides at 2.5mm....even tougher for an old man to thread. Then in the past couple of years they have gone to 2mm guides. They are tiny....one isn’t going to be using bobber stops with these rods. But you get a lighter...more sensitive rod. I have a new rod coming that is 6’ 3” with 9 guides. Six of those will be at 2mm......going to tax these old eyes to thread them up....LOL.

Seems like that would just cause unnecessary drag on the line when casting.
