Yep, it aint very pretty when duck guides build blinds on publick property in Arkansas and then try to run off the locals who have hunted them for generations.

Fishing guides I have no problem with. Bill Dance circled a spot I was in that he wanted to fish for half a day one time when he was making a show. Kept hollering to his camerman that I was still there. I fished it until the fish didn't bite anymore and left. Hope I left a few for him. Guides have done the same thing to me. I have even had them ask me to vacate a spot because they had clients with them and he needed for them to catch some fish... once I had already caught plenty and moved so they could get on some action other times I said no.

I have never had a problem anywhere with a guide. I have however ran into some rude fishermen. I just move on....lots of other places to fish.

No one guides for free, there is CLEARLY money to be made, because there are so MANY DOING IT.
Your fishing a Corp lake that is maintained for flood control and RECREATION..... If you want to operate a BUSINESS there are, or should be rules/fees/ insurance that is required.......
Lastly, what folks do usually doesn’t bother me until it AFFECTS ME....thanks to the internet, the big four are covered up with guides, and yes it’s an ADDITIONAL BURDEN to all recreational fishermen....
Additionally this website has been used by some....or ONE to create business for himself......

I’m done, thinking of going fishing Guides

I ran a few numbers concerning the number of fish that are taken from the lakes by the guides and their customers. Assuming there are just 10 guides, if they [10 guide boats] fish only four days per week and catch the daily boat limit of 40 fish per day, that's 400 fish taken. That's 1600 per month and if they fish only 10 month per year that's 16000 fish taken per year. The normal mortality rate for an average Crappie spawn is 62%. Just something to think about.
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

10 guides, 4 days a week average, 40 fish boat limit for each guide, is equal to 1600 crappie per week. Assuming 4 weeks a month as in your example, 10 months equals 40 weeks, 40 weeks equals 64,000 crappie.

Crappie are one of the most prolific fish there is...they need large numbers removed...they lose tons through the spillway every year too and that helps...just more reasons why the big 4 has such big crappie. Been fishing Sardis since 1964....have not run out of crappie yet. Its all good.

Just stick to Edmund Orgil or Poplar Tree or Glen Springs, you won't have to worry about running into any mean ole guides on those lakes.
