Livescope is an incredible tool and a whole lot of fun to use. However, it has its limitations. The livescope transducer has to be mounted on your trolling motor or a small pole. Therefore, while the transducer is in the water, you are limited to trolling motor speed. It also only shows images at a 20 degree spread. This will be about 3.5 feet at a 10 foot distance and 7 feet at 20 feet. Think of it as shining a flashlight in the dark. You can see what it is pointing at but nothing more. In the dark, you could walk within 10 feet of an object and not see it if your flashlight is not pointed directly at it. Because of these two limiting factors, speed and field of vision, you will never be able to scan a lake like you can with other fish finders, i.e side scan, etc. You have to know where the crappie are most likely at and use your other skills to put you in the area or livescope has a limited advantage to you. Some people talk about livescope as if it will magically draw your boat to a 3 pound crappie. It doesn't. I've tried. Lol
