On a small TWRA Lake......that is full of crappie that aren’t supposed to be in there......I’ve had to switch to orange when the water became an almost tanic color. The only reason I switched to orange was my fishing buddy decided to try it.......we weren’t catching anything at all........after switching to orange it was a crappie on almost every cast. I have orange in my box but I rarely ever use it.....maybe I need to try it more often.

    Regards

I can’t figure it out. I have decent luck with pink and char if the water is slightly stained a certain shade and it’s sunny out. But even that’s only certain conditions
Know what you mean. A few years ago had a three week span where if I didn’t have a white jig head they weren’t taking it. No matter what color the jig was

I use orange in muddy or stained water. I have always used pink as just an accent color, like pink head or tail. When EC became really popular color I tried it. Bought a few Bobby G's and caught a few fish, but nothing too impressive. Orange or copper on the other hand is my main go to unless Im fishing high tannin or black water. If the sun is up and Im in some stained to muddy water it gotta be orange. As for as pink, its just an accent color for me. Head or tail.

I no fish have been caught on every color out there but for me there are few colors that I still carry in my box, I guess for filler cause I have no confidence in them. Every time I put one on I start to feel like I'm wasting my time and after just awhile I find myself trying something different; mostly its single colors like bright orange, bright yellow, purple, red and electric chicken. My confident colors are firework, salt/pepper, black/char and some greens.

Straight orange seems to be decent when it is muddy. For me, pink (mainly pink & white) shines in the middle of winter or middle of summer. Not sure why.
I tend to agree on the electric chicken. People rave about it but I keep trying it with less than stellar results, regardless of time of year. They did hit it better for me a couple of weeks ago but still not like they were another color.

Chart/pink worked good for me in the stained water but since all the rain we've had the last few weeks , the orange head, gold body, chart tail has caught what few I've managed to get,
    Just my 2c worth

Sorry to disagree with everyone but I only use unpainted ball head jigs. I won't carry any painted jigs in my boat and still catch my usual
+500 fish/ 6 species annually. I have photos of fish caught to prove it.

I don't paint my heads either.
